Kilauea eruption. Night-time view of lava erupting from a new fissure of the volcano of Kilauea during the eruptive episode that began in May 2018 (the 2018 lower Puna eruption). Kilauea is a volcano on the main island of Hawaii. This eruption, near fissures 2 and 7, began with small lava spattering at about 20:44 HST (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time). By 21:00, lava fountains as high as 70 metres were erupting from the fissure. Photographed on 5 May 2018.
